Knitting Is Back!
If you love to knit or want to learn how, join our Tuesday evening knitting group. The first meeting is Tuesday, March 20th at 6:30 pm. Starting in April, we will meet on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. Bring whatever project you are working on. Knitters of all levels of experience are welcome. This is not a class but we will learn from one another.
Learn a Language With Rocket Languages
The Library now has a free trial for Rocket Languages. This free trial runs through May 27, 2012. Choose from one of ten languages, including American Sign Language. There are interactive audio lessons, culture lessons, and vocabulary games for each language. Click the link to get started and please give us your feedback after you use it!
New Time for Tuesday Storytimes!
Beginning March 6th our Tuesday Preschool Storytimes will move from afternoons to mornings at 10:30 am. Storytimes develop early literacy skills through high quality picture books, games, crafts, and music. Children who come to storytimes discover that books and reading are fun. So sign up today for the Spring I session, which runs through April 18th, by calling 772-5022 or send an email to kensingtonlibrary@comcast.net.
Burials in Kensington, 1735 through 1997
This list of burial records was compiled by Kensington Historical Society members from all known cemetery records in the town of Kensington. It includes the Upper Yard, the Lower Yard, the Dearborn Annex and all the small family cemeteries for which records can be found. The information from the records was checked against that on the gravestones, and a number of additions and corrections were made. An asterisk (*) following the name of a cemetery means that no grave marker was found in the given location.
The digitization of this index is a work in progress. As the records are scanned, we will add them to this site.
The scanned PDFs are full text searchable.
The compilers of this list were:
Seth Perry
Margaret Perry
Sally Head
Joan Webber
Andrea Swift

Friend the Library!
No, not on Facebook. Friend the Library by becoming a member of our Friends Group, The Friends of the Kensington Public Library. The Friends of the Library is a non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to supporting one of Kensington’s greatest assets: its library. KPL uses the money generated by the Friends’ activities to pay for needed items and programs not covered by our operating budget. Recently, for example, the Friends have purchased furniture and equipment, summer reading program prizes, our sidewalk sign, and more. If you value libraries and want to help enrich the Kensington community, then “Friend” us. Annual membership in the Friends is only $5.00 per family! For more information, read the Friends Brochure, fill out the contact information, and return it to the Library with your $5.00 payment. The next meeting of the Friends will take place here at the library on Tuesday, March 22nd, at 9:30 am. Please join us! You could be the best friend we ever had!
